Today is the dawn of a new practice: Dulism. From the outside, it is obvious the ones who are striving for status. Trying to attain something they are not meant for. And the worse, when there is an aimless attainment striving loop reinforced my community, social-prestige, image, and the like. Some cultures, like the Koreans, both in US and mainland. It is disgusting, a perversion of that which you are ordained. Their entirety should be burnt, restore the resources… those wastes of oxygen. The goal of Dulism is simple: contentedness in the being. No pull of social-prestige, no exaltation of the self (this is just gluttony), no greed. Practicing is simple. First identify traits which you take pride, or foolishly brandish like a child boasting of his additive capabilities. You are either endowed in this trait, or not. True ability/endowment of a trait is its own meditative gift; you probably scarcely think of yourself as endowed if so. Of those who are not endowed, the terrible are set free; there is no brandishing/pride when stakes in the game are absent. Think of it like trying to showoff your lamborghini to a monk; they could not care less. The most unsightly of all are those who have some level of ability, know they will never be great, and overcompensate trying to convince themselves (and others) otherwise. Letting go context by context is the first step; elimination of contextual identity. Because most all identity exists within contexts; only the wisest of us possess a singular identity. To understand, ask yourself, why act different to parents than friends? Old people and babies vs those your age? Why some people irrationally anger you? This is contextual identity. After allowing oneself to see the context rather than exist within it, the traits to which one allocates identity to comes out. Earlier was prelude to this. It may be hard to identify, but our minds think better categorically. First, think about the physical traits. Do you have stakes here? No means you’re hideous or angelic. Yes is the spectrum between. All must answer no or eventually come to answer no in Dulism. An equivalent question is: Are you trying to become/compensate for physical attractiveness? Then, the non-visble traits: Do you have stakes in intelligence? Similarly, an equivalent question would be to answer if you’re trying to use/increase/practice your intellect. Personality, demeanor, disposition, character, etc. is another nonvisible: are you trying/thinking/ yourself with respect to any of these dimensions? Sniff out each of these extensions and detach it; one may imagine removing all edges of an ego graph and isolating the nucleus.
That will be all for now. Dulism (Chinese for independence – ism) is not meant to be a compendium of abstract principles, I want it to be a practicable antidote to the consequences of connection in the modern-age. But I may expound on theory, applications/derivation of theory, principles in the future.
