Mahayana Buddhism spawned many branches that all more or less emphasize tangentially similar things. A certain variant made its way to China to be known as Ch’an, which made its way to Japan to be known as Zen. Mahayana itself already pulls away from all that Gautama has created Buddhism for, that is, in spite of the bhakti related Hindu things. Yet Big Raft claims to hold onto some original sutras.

Worse yet, just like polarizing echo esoteric echo chambers, Zen is deluded. Zen Buddhism scorns any sort of scripture and verbal rationalization. Its entire crux is experientialism. I think there is a deep problem with this. For at the point when “logic and description make sense only from an experiential perspective radically different from the ordinary”, it becomes indistinguishable from the point of departure into delusion.

While this may not be particularly harmful, it’s completely disingenuous to original Buddhism. At what point does a variant of something become completely obscure from what it acknowledges. It’s all because of this fucking sped shit Bodhidharma that Buddhism often goes dismissed as wishy washy OMMMMM bs when Gautama was a pragmatic awesome guy.
